This wedding was a collision of two worlds that I hold dear: photography & family. Nick is my nephew (oldest of four.) Ashlie is the beautiful lady that Nick is lucky enough to call his wife. *yay!* They both live in Texas and I was thrilled they asked me if I would want to shoot their wedding.
You may remember their engagement session last year. It involved occupational uniforms and smoke bombs aka pure awesome-sauce.
Ashlie is a nurse and Nick is a fireman. They met via their jobs and the fire station. After a couple years and a dog together Nick decided to propose to Ashlie while his family was on vacation in Colorado. She was completely surprised and had no idea it was coming. They went to a state park near Steamboat Springs and went for a hike. After slyly ditching the family Nick dropped to one knee on top of a huge rock with the Rock Mountains around them. The family knew Nicks plan and had hung back intentionally, waiting with baited breath. She said yes and the wedding planning begun.
The day went so smoothly. The phrase “it takes a village” could not be more applicable. The amazing venue they choose, Under the Wildwood, allowed them to setup all the decorations during the rehearsal. Nick’s sister created the cake masterpieces. Ashlie did all the decorations and planning, both moms did the picture palette collage as well as the food, and the boys made sure no one went thirsty! I loved getting to meet their friends and hanging out with the fun goofy crowd they choose to be in their wedding party. Hearing them recite vows to one another was simply the icing on the perfect cake.
Congrats to the newlyweds and enjoy your honeymoon!
