Items to have for detail photos

November 15, 2017

Every wedding day I like to begin with photos of the little details you have chosen to wear, use, and hold. I always suggest to my couples that they gather these items before the wedding and just have them in one spot or in a bag before I get there. It helps me setup and take the photos faster so that I can get more “getting ready” photos.

Here’s a quick list of the things you should gather and have ready when your photographer gets there:

Invitation Suite: bonus points if you mail one to your photographer ahead of time

Jewelry: This includes earrings, necklace, bracelet, tiara, etc

All rings: engagement ring, both wedding bands. If you have a special heirloom ring you will be wearing include that

Shoes: I’m a shoe gal so this is my favorite

Wedding dress: If you don’t plan on getting a special bridal hanger for your dress that’s fine. I always suggest bringing a simple wooden hanger. It is much cuter than the bridal store plastic ones

Veil: If you are choosing a veil, awesome!

Bridesmaid dress: I typically use a bridesmaid dress as the background of the images so that everything matches your wedding colors and looks seamless in an album

Bouquet & Boutonniere: If your flowers are not being delivered until later or if you are getting ready at a different location than the ceremony and the flowers are being delivered to the ceremony venue that’s fine. I can get those photos later.

Borrowed & Blue: If you are borrowing something, have something old, something new, or your something blue. Go ahead and include those things

Garter: If you are wearing one

Perfume (optional): If you have a favorite perfume bottle it can be a fun accent to your photos

Wedding Program (a bonus!): If you have a fun a funky wedding program go ahead and include it!

Any extra fun things: Some of these things can include confetti, six pence, bubbles, handkerchief, the gifts your gave your bridal party, lipgloss, rosary, themed sunglasses, personalized cookies, and anything else you can think of!
